General Information

  • Abstracts should include: Background – Objective, Methods, Results and Conclusion
  • There is no submission fee required to submit an abstract / clinical case to SMC – PAFCIC 2022
  • All abstracts must be submitted electronically on the Cardiovascular Journal of Africa (CVJA) platform by the deadline of Sunday September 4th at midnight GMT. No late submissions will be accepted.
  • All abstracts and cases must be submitted in English.
  • Abstracts should briefly describe the objectives of the study, statement of methods and findings that support conclusions.
  • Clarity of expression will be considered in the review process.
  • The overall quality of language used should assure comprehension by the reader.
  • The maximum number of characters allowed is 2500 (approximately 300-350 words).
  • The addition of a table or figure/image deducts 600 characters from the total maximum characters.
  • Figures and images must be uploaded separately. Supported file formats are JPG and GIF.
  • In addition to the abstract, clinical case submitters should upload FOUR slides or pictures illustrating the case.
  • Submitters may revise information, correct typographical errors, tables, graphics, or withdraw an abstract any time before the above deadline.
  • After the deadline, please contact SMC secretariat or Secretariat@pafcic.org to withdraw an abstract.
  • Submission of an abstract or a clinical case constitutes a commitment by the author(s) to present, if accepted.
  • All accepted and presented abstracts and clinical cases will be published in a supplement of CVJA.
  • Accepted but not presented abstracts or clinical cases will not be published.
  • The presenting Author should be the first author
  • The First author should be the corresponding author.
  • The list of co-authors should not exceed ten including the first author.
  • Each author in the list should have an affiliation, with the institution, city and country
  • SMC – PAFCIC is unable to cover the abstract and case submitters for travel, hotel, and per diem expenses.

Submission

  • All abstracts must be submitted by the deadline of Sunday September 4th at midnight GMT. No late submissions will be accepted
  • Just after submission, you will receive an email confirmation for your submission,
  • Should you encounter any problem with your submission, do not hesitate to contact SMC-PAFCIC 2022 secretariat for assistance

Review

  • There will be peer-review of all abstracts and clinical cases.
  • Notification of acceptance/rejection will be sent mid September 2022
  • Accepted original abstracts and clinical cases will be presented orally, the others will be presented as posters.
