PACE quilt project
At the 2010 South African Heart
Association congress at Sun City, PACE
had delegates design and/or sign squares
of fabric, and they endeavoured to
complete 200 original squares.
The unique project was to make up
a quilt, which was to be donated to a
crèche. However, all the 200 squares were
not completed on time, causing PACE
to become innovative. They created two
large wall hangings, stitched together by
volunteer Betsie Mann.
One of these wall hangings has been
given as a farewell gift to original CEO,
Lusan Luscombe. The leftover squares
have been stitched onto shopping bags,
which are currently being sold as part of
the PACE merchandise.
PACE usually obtains funds from
educational grants from large companies,
however as arrhythmia and or sudden
cardiac arrest in the youth fight a losing
battle for ‘airtime’ versus pandemics like
AIDS and MDR TB, PACE constantly
needs to think of ingenuous ways in
which to raise funds.
Support PACE in their continued work
to prevent arrhythmic cardiac events,
which can lead to sudden death in our
youth, by contacting PACE via their
website,
, to order
these unique bags today.
This creative project and more will be
continued by faithful PACE volunteers in
order to generate funds for the organisa-
tion.
