Therefore one of the main indications for single-stage repair is
coarctation with serious triple-vessel coronary artery disease.
Conclusion
Coarctation of the aorta with concomitant coronary artery
disease can be simultaneously repaired, safely and effectively
through median sternotomy when patients present in adulthood.
Since it is a protracted and difficult procedure, the surgeon must
be experienced. However the rates of morbidity and mortality are
higher with this procedure. We did not reposition the patient for
the second stage of the operation therefore the risk of infection
was less.
