The echocardiographic features had evolved to greater leaflet

thickening, calcification and reduced motion with very little

prolapse. These findings may have significant implications for

the current management of rheumatic mitral valve disease and

contribute to better understanding of the evolution from acute

to chronic rheumatic heart disease.
